Like, the production is really good and the songs are catchy but nothing is very engaging about it
Not gonna lie, the new Daft Punk album is pretty boring.
A lot of people have claimed that there are no good reasons to oppose feminism, even if one is a masculist, egalitarian or some other form of advocate. The theory is that they’re not the enemy, and that just because they’re advocating only half the picture (and some are genuine egalitarians) doesn’t mean they’re causing any harm. If feminists take care of women’s issues, other people can fill the gap dealing with men’s issues and human issues.
Unfortunately, this is wishful thinking. While feminism may not be completely rotten, at the very least it needs a complete overhaul if it’s going to continue under its current name. No good reasons to oppose feminism?
I’ll give you ten. (Please click through from dash or tag for proper typesetting.)
Reason 1: Some feminists advocate the systematic murder, castration or destruction of men, and more moderate and less bigoted portions of the movement ignore, tolerate and refuse to speak out against these bigots.
Reason 2: Feminist advocates throughout the history of the movement have marginalized women of color, transwomen, poor women and many other types of women. While this is less common now, it still takes place and is unacceptable in a movement supposedly dedicated to equality.
Reason 3: Feminist academics have been proven to use poor research practices, purposely distorting data to meet ideological ends. By ignoring the sanctity of academic study, they have not only cast doubt on legitimate research but also dishonored their obligations as scientists.
Reason 4: Feminist advocates have purposely misrepresented studies for ideological purposes, such as quoting a study’s findings of abuse against women while ignoring the finding of the same study that abuse against men was more frequent, and using this to justify increased resources dedicated to the protection of women despite the research having found similar levels of abuse.
Reason 5: Feminist advocates have fabricated studies, such as the “Super Bowl Battering” case where a journalist checking his facts found that while the university in question had indeed conducted a study of the subject, the results were completely incongruent with what feminist advocates had claimed.
Reason 6: Feminist advocates have purposely impeded research which does not agree with ideological goals, including harassing, organizing protests and lobbying against academics completely uninvolved with advocacy. Feminist advocates have lobbied repeatedly to block funding for studies which cite female perpetration or male victimization of domestic violence and rape.
Reason 7: Feminist advocates have actively suppressed studies and data (same citation as above) which do not agree with ideological goals.
Reason 8: Feminist advocates have repeatedly continued to promulgate myths such as the wage gap, 2% levels of false rape allegation, low levels of domestic violence committed by women and the “rule of thumb,” despite them having been long-since refuted. Advocates often refuse to back down from their positions even when presented with conclusive evidence that they are promoting something that simply isn’t true.
Reason 9: Feminist advocates have systematically attacked rule of law, lobbying for insane laws which create further discrimination in family courts already biased against men. Advocates have pushed laws which remove constitutional protections and void due process for people accused of rape or domestic violence, especially in universities, and laws such as VAWA designed specifically to protect women, despite men being the significant majority of the victims of violent crime and severe bias within the courts against accused men.
Reason 10: Feminist advocates claim feminism as simultaneously a ”women’s movement” and a “movement about equality.” However, they claim that while feminism is the only equality movement we need it has no obligation to address the issues faced by men, and that men should create their own movement to address those….the same movement just described as unneeded. Advocates demonize those that oppose them, falsely equating opposition to feminism with opposition to equality. Advocates use blatantly

That’s ten reasons, basically off the top of my head. There are undoubtedly more, but these are a few big ones.
Most have citations to back them up, excepting numbers one (which is basically self-evident, but can also be examined with the recent radfemhub issue, Sharon Osborne, and a wide variety of other incidents) and four, which should be attributed to (if recollection serves, and it’s somewhat paraphrased) Erin Pizzey, founder of the first women’s shelter in the world and an expert on domestic violence, taken from an interview found on Youtube on the “manwomanmyth” channel. A shelter was distributing reading material citing a study to claim that a woman was being abused every *number* seconds, but the actual study also found that a man was being abused every *slightly lower number* seconds.
Whether or not feminism is salvageable, whether or not it’s a net force for good, whether or not it’s for equality or for women or against men, there are plenty of good, logical reasons to justify opposing it in its current form. Opposition to feminism is not misogyny, nor is it illogical or irrational.
If feminists want people like me to stop opposing them, perhaps they should stop giving me reasons to.
Interesting.
